IAF helicopter crashes at Jammu Airport, 9 injured

At least nine people, including seven Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel were injured in a chopper crash at the Jammu Airport on (14/12/2010)Tuesday morning.
Reports  said that a MI-26 helicopter carrying IAF personnel crashed at the high security Jammu Airport, minutes after it took off  for Katra area of Reasi district this morning . Seven IAF personnel,  and  two railway officials of Konkan Railway were injured in the air crash.The chopper was carrying railway machinery and equipments.They were removed to Army hospital for treatment.
A technical snag is believed to be the cause of the crash. Soon after the crash, the IAF and Airports Authority of India (AAI) closed the airport for air traffic to clear the debris of the chopper.
